Arathi School of Dance in Dallas, TX was founded by Guru Revathi Satyu in 1980. Arathi School quickly became the premiere school for Bharatanatyam education in the metroplex and continues to offer classes at our various locations for inspiring and educating students, both new and old.
Our locations:
We conduct classes at convenient locations in Arlington, Irving, Carrollton, Plano, and Frisco.
Policies and Information:
Our school year starts from September and continues through May. Classes are held for one hour weekly. There is annual anniversary program that students perform in that takes place typically at the end of April or May. Some intermediate and advanced groups will also have the opportunity to take part in performances within the metroplex during the school year. Also, our students will be offered the chance to take part in various performances and workshops from other renowned gurus over the summer months.
Attire:
All students are required to wear the school uniform which can be ordered through each teacher. Please make sure students wear good fitting, (not too long) salwar or tights/kameez set (without bead work) along with dupatta. Jeans/pants, lengthy pants that go under the kids' feet, casual shirt, glass bangles, fancy jewelry, anklets, bead necklaces/accessories and clothes with too much bead work are not allowed. Hair MUST be tied or pinned up to keep them in place. For those who wear glasses, please keep them on if you need to OR wear contact lens. From the third year onwards, students need a pant style Bharatanatyam dance costume, temple jewelry and accessories for the annual performance.
Classes:
Makeup class or private class will not be offered if the student misses any class. On a regular class day, if teachers are away due to personal reasons, make up class will be offered or if a substitute teacher is available, classes will be conducted as scheduled. Inclement weather related cancellation will not be compensated. Classes are closed during all important school holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and Spring break.
